New functions coming to Campus Solutions this summer

June 30, 2020

         SIS 101

This summer, for the first time, MSU staff outside of the Student Information System (SIS) Modernization Project team will access the new SIS, Campus Solutions. This system will bring a new student experience to campus and provide the institution with a more modern and agile platform to meet the ever-changing needs of students and higher education. Learn more about all the functionality coming to campus and how you might be affected.

On Aug. 3, Release 3 will primarily impact the Office of Admissions (OA). The functionality in this release will significantly improve the way we process admission applications and manage decisions, including

  • a modern checklist-based solution to administer the evaluation process;
  • additional social context data on applicants in the evaluation process;
  • a streamlined and standardized application review process for shaping of the freshman class;
  • the option for first-year applicants to have application considered without standardized test score;
  • a single system for the management of recruiter assignments;
  • real-time communication of application status.

Tailored communications will be sent to affected OA staff regarding the training program and schedule, currently planned for July, August and September.

Upcoming Releases

Release 4, scheduled for Nov. 16, with additional functionality going live on Jan. 11, 2021, is the moment students and staff in student-supporting roles will begin using the new system. More detailed information regarding Release 4 functionality, impacted end-users, live demonstrations and trainings will be shared in future communications and events.

Campus Engagement Event

To keep the university community informed about upcoming releases, the Project will be holding a campus engagement opportunity before the fall semester begins on Thursday, Aug. 20, from 8:30 – 10 a.m.

This campus engagement event will build on information shared at the May 14 SIS Modernization Webinar as well as provide a preview of functionality included in the Release 3 go-live. Please save the date for Aug. 20 and stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks.

Project leadership appreciates the attention and investment of the campus community in this important student-success initiative.
