Release 4 is Live!

Release 4 of the SIS Modernization Project is live! This release introduces even more functions in the new Student Information System to be used by staff and students.  

On Nov. 16:

  • Academic advisors, tutors and advising staff will access SIS to begin setting up appointment availability in the new Advising and Tutoring Appointment system.
  • Office of Financial Aid staff will begin using the new financial aid portal accessed via SIS to start financial aid processing for the 2021-2022 Aid Year.

On Nov. 30:

  • Undergraduate, osteopathic medicine and law students will start using SIS to make advising and tutoring appointments in the Advising and Tutoring Appointment System.

On Dec. 14:

  • Current students can use SIS to enter the financial aid portal to view 2021-2022 Aid Year FAFSA data, submit documents or complete other requirements to prepare for financial aid packaging in the spring.
  • Newly admitted students for fall 2021 will use SIS to access the financial aid portal to view and manage financial aid packages.

Then, at the start of spring semester on Jan. 11, 2021, students and staff will begin using SIS to access:

  • Schedule of Classes and Class Search
  • Degree Audit
  • GradPlan
  • Academic Records 

End-user education for Release 4 has been ongoing since September and will continue through his fall to prepare campus for functionality going live in January. Students and staff will have access to resources and help for SIS on the SIS website.

In addition to new functionality, Release 4 also brought improvements to MSU’s data and reporting capabilities, including the creation of a new data warehouse and reporting views specific to the new SIS. Learn more about these improvements here.

To accomplish this incredible milestone, the SIS Project team successfully converted:

  • 5.7 million Career, Program, Plan records
  • 21.9 million enrollment records
  • 2.3 million transfer credit records
