Academic Data Community

The Academic Data Community is a Microsoft Team that supports the Campus Solutions SIS data-using community at MSU. The information shared in monthly meetings, team channels and resources is geared toward those who write queries against the SIS data warehouse for reporting, application development and maintenance, longitudinal analysis, dashboard support, etc. This community offers support via regular meetings and provides a place for education, discussion, peer support, and resolution of data-related issues.

The Academic Data Community Team includes:

  • A "General" channel for messages of interest to the entire community, as well as
    • A "Resources" tab that provides information on how to get access to the SIS data warehouse, links to training documents and videos, and sample queries to get started in the data
    • Recordings of previous meetings and copies of presentations and supporting materials
    • End-user education training documents and videos for Campus Solutions data use
  • A "SIS Data Drop-In Help" channel, a very active, peer-supported forum where data users can ask questions, seek help, and find in-depth resources for SIS data and the derived reporting views and crosswalks in the data warehouse
